Halfway out of the ground and already grinning about it
A 3.3-foot animated skeleton, waist up, arms planted like it is pushing out of the lawn. The eyes light red, the ribcage glows orange from the inside, and the finish is the mottled bone-gray of something that has been down there a while. Stake it into the front bed or at the foot of a tombstone and the walk to your door gets noticeably longer.

Two separate glows on one figure: pinpoint red in the sockets and a warm orange fill behind the ribcage, like something is still burning in there. It reads as lit from within, not as a flashlight taped to a skull.
Waist-up, so it fits where a full body won't
No legs to hide and nothing to stand up. It sits in a flower bed, beside the walkway, or at the foot of a tombstone in the graveyard scene, and the hands spread flat on the ground so you can pile mulch or leaves against the wrists to finish the dig.

Halloween night and the morning after
