The Good Guy that speaks up when the porch gets loud
Mezco's Mega Scale Chucky from Child's Play, in the yellow Good Guys window box. Sit him in a porch chair or on the top step, and once the trick-or-treaters get loud enough he starts talking. Indoor or outdoor, so the porch is fine, and the rest of the year he sits on a shelf like nothing happened.
The overalls do the work
Rainbow-striped sleeves, denim overalls with the little hammers and saws printed on, Good Guys on the chest pocket, maroon sneakers with cream laces. Nobody needs a sign to figure out who is sitting on the step.
Keep the box
The yellow window box is a prop on its own, down to the I Can Talk sticker on the front and the line about wanting you for a best friend. You could leave him in it and set the whole thing by the door.
Not the little-kid tier
The box says ages 15 and up, and this one is not for little kids anyway. Set him where the older kids and the parents come through, and route the toddlers past the pumpkins on the other side of the yard.
Halloween night, then the shelf
